Services

The Laboratory Remote Sensing and GIS offers the following products and services. The products are provided at a rate to cover the expenses of preparation and transportation:

  1. Development of a unified cartographic infrastructure of many map sheets of Hatt projection into a prefabricated grid mesh of EGSA87 or HTRS07 (Hellenic terrestrial reference system of 2007) projection, and, creation of a single mosaic with absolute continuity of all map sheets in a continuous without blank spaces cartographic infrastructure. This cartographic infrastructure is very useful for the Municipalities and the regions and via these for all those who deal with applications over in the geographical space (Environmentalists, Engineers, Geologists, Geotechnicals, Geographers, etc).
  2. Creation of digital elevation model from maps with contour lines.
  3. Processing of high resolution satellite images with orthorectification methods, so that they fit with precision over the map.
  4. Fusion of remote sensing images from various sensors with different spatial resolution in a single mosaic map.
  5. Digitize orthorectified satellite images of high resolution and transfer the information in a GIS system for map revision or other uses.
  6. Creation of maps with scale precision specifications from aerial photographs and satellite images of high resolution with methods of Photogrammetry.
  7. Mapping static and dynamic objects with scale precision specifications by methods of Close Range Photogrammetry on applications such as: architecture, archaeology, marine waves, cultural heritage, medicine, etc.
  8.  Use of new technologies such as:  LIDAR,  and Bathymetric  LIDAR,  and, IFSAR,  for mapping.
  9. Installation and development of a Geographic Information System (GIS) and use it in applications as are the environment and the cartography as well as a lot of other applications. Creation of automated processes and interconnection with models of applications.
  10. Installation and development of an Image Server with a background of a high resolution satellite image or aerial photographs and perform processing and management of these images so that to increase the presentation speed.
  11. Processing and analysis of time series satellite and other remote sensing images for the research, study and monitoring of phenomena such as: climate change, desertification, land use change, urban growth, and a lot of other environmental phenomena.
  12. Collection and processing of cartographic and remote sensing data to extract information useful on the management of matters concerning natural hazards, such as: forest fires, floods, landslides, coastal erosion, sea waves, tsunamis, earthquakes, tornadoes, etc, and individual matters such as: risk/danger estimate, management of the phenomenon and damage assessment.
  13. Collection and processing of cartographic and remote sensing data to extract  information useful on the management of water resources.
  14. Collection and processing of cartographic and remote sensing data to extract  information useful on the management of solid and liquid wastes from the biological treatment plants.
  15. Archive of raw data HRTP of the sensor AVHRR (10-bit on 5 channels) for the years 1998, 1999 and for the years 2003 - today. Data cover most of Mediterranean area and there are at least four pictures per 24 hours, usually two during daytime and two during night.
  16. Dust maps showing the distribution on the atmosphere of the dust generated at the Sahara desert after dust storms of high intensity and duration.
  17. Quick Looks color composites JPEG from AVHRR raw data images.
  18. Vegetation index (average over 15-day intervals) - limited dates.
  19. Sea surface temperatures (SST) are available for day and night - limited dates.
  20. Products of optical thickness of the atmosphere based on 6s code - limited dates.
